Philly Gun Instructor - Range Safety Officer

The best way to become a certified RSO is to first become an NRA certified instructor. When that's done you'll be able to certify yourself on the NRA website. For this reason there will be no RSO courses scheduled for the foreseeable future. Heres the NRA RSO site. This course is designed to prepare experienced shooters with the knowledge skills and attitude necessary to perform the duties of a Range Safety Officer.

Range safety officers often have the responsibility to take action when circumstances require it. Many ranges seek RSOs not only for keeping the range safe and helping shooters but it can also keeps down insurance costs. You must be 21 years old to attend this course.

The roles and responsibilities of a Range Safety Officer
How to follow range standard operating procedures
Range inspections
Emergency procedures
Range rules
How to conduct range briefings
How to clear stoppages and malfunctions

Before becoming a RSO i do require that you are a member of the NRA. Sign up here to get the lowest possible price and help uphold our rights. The NRA has a credentialing fee of $30 for a 2-yr term you will do this after the class on the NRA website.

For those of you who plan on taking the Chief RSO course it will be held on the following day. To take the chief course you must be an Instructor AND RSO.
